How losing my sight forced me to abandon graphical user interfaces on Windows and discover the speed and precision of the command line. For years, my development life was defined by windows, menus, dialog boxes, and mouse clicks. Like most developers starting out on Windows, I relied heavily on graphical user interfaces. I used file explorers to drag and drop files, context menus to copy and paste, and visual buttons to trigger builds. Everything felt intuitive because I could see where my cursor landed.
